When you go into a Wal-Mart store you find two types of products. You find brand name products that Wal-Mart sells on a commission basis (like an affiliate), and you find Wal-Mart branded products that they have the right to sell with their name on them (like Private Label Rights, or PLR products).

An affiliate program is nothing more than selling products that someone else creates and earning a commission for selling it. For the complete novice, this is the best way to go. I know that resale rights and private label programs are heavily promoted as the best way to make money, but when you are just starting out they only add a layer of complexity that the novice doesn’t need. Besides, most affiliate programs will pay much more than what a store like Wal-Mart earns on every product. Typical commissions are in the 50% ballpark.

I know, you’ve tried affiliate programs and haven’t made a dime. I have to. I’ve also promoted PLR and RR products without making any money.
